Like the rest of Toronto, North York is a hotbed for townhouses, especially along Finch Ave. Along the street, there are one of two types of property mid-rise condo building, usually between 5 and 10 floors or older detached homes. Developers have been buying up the older homes along the street with the intention of building more low rise condos or new townhouses. The styles of townhomes range from smaller stacked townhomes to full detached freehold. It really depends on what you are looking for along with your budget. The more expensive ones are typically closer to major intersections like Yonge and Finch and larger in square footage.
It’s worth noting that most new townhomes regardless of the size and location have an additional condo fee that must be paid monthly. Unlike Condo fees for high to mid-rise buildings, these ones are much less expensive. Most are around the twenty-five cent per square foot mark, while typical condos are anywhere from fifty cents (uncommonly low) all the way to a dollar per square foot. Of course, since you are paying less, you are not privy to the same services. Condos offer a variety of amenities from indoor or outdoor pools, gyms, meeting rooms, party rooms, visitor parking and so much more. Townhomes don’t have any of those, but they can have other features that are more important to some. A unique entrance to your unit — no shared common space where you interact with other unit owners. Some have garages that are very close or are attached to the townhouse. It really depends on what you are looking for. Use the map search above to find the perfect townhouse for you!
